Hidden City X Data Garden: Heritage Electronics

Last Friday, May 31, Hidden City Philadelphia (to which I contribute photographs and words from time to time) and Data Garden put together a really fantastic performance at the Frankford Historical Society as part of the Hidden City Festival.

Heritage Electronics featured musicians making use of heritage and primitive electronic instruments. Artists included King Britt who performed a composition that included sounds recorded within the Historical Society, Charles Cohen on the super rare Buchla Music Easel, Laura Baird on theremin, Dino Lionetti on various electronics and Gretchen Lohse on viola.

No Carrier provided projections via video synths + NES  during the performances and Daniel Rehn projected curated video during intermission.

Data Garden has a sound installation up at Frankford Historical Society for the duration of the Hidden City Festival.  It’s lovely and highly recommended and an excellent excuse to check out two of Philadelphia’s lesser-known gems.  DO IT.
