Bok Tech – scenes from a closing school

For the past several months, I have been extensively documenting the Edward W. Bok Technical High School, located at 9th and Mifflin in South Philadelphia.

Bok Tech is one of a handful of the city’s remaining technical schools.  I wrote about the history of the building and of technical education for Hidden City here.

This past April, the state-appointed School Reform Commission voted to close 22 schools, Bok is one of them.

Here are a few images from around Bok including an art classroom, the robotics department hallway, a trophy case with a taxidermied wildcat (Bok’s mascot), a social studies classrom, a television studio being used to warehouse old computers, the nurse’s office and the gymnasium.
